Earth, DNA and Humanity Part 2 - DNA and Intelligence

DNA and Inner Intelligence
The quantum (from the Latin, “how much”) describes the smallest unit of particle, like a photon is a quantum of light, because it cannot be further split into finer particles. It manifests when electrons collide with other electrons (as in electricity). From the collision, jumps the photon, which has no mass, coming from an unknown realm, not covered by the space-time dimension of Einstein.

The discovery of the quantum realm opened a way to see down deeper into the self. Sub-atomic levels are separated by huge gaps, making every atom more than 99.99 percent empty space. Everything solid, including the body is proportionately as void as inter-galactic space. Perhaps, quantum events are not “out there” in space, but “in here” as well. Quantum discoveries enable humans to go into atoms and remember the early universe itself. Around 15 billion years ago, light and heat came into being. Yet, every human being strikes the spark again, lighting the fire that kindles life.

A deeper intelligence must be guiding nature such that the non-physical manifests in the physical. The human being may be a deeper intelligence, i.e., soul, embodied in the physical world and expressed through the DNA code. All mental characteristics and faculties are nonphysical, but are real, such as sensation of light and colors, of sound and music; feelings and emotions; will and thought; guilt and remorse. The nerve cells seem to be the link that connects the physical brain with the world of consciousness.

In many ways, all the billions of bits of DNA in a body act like one big DNA molecule. From conception to the ninth month, all DNA in an unborn child acts as one. The DNA is manipulating molecules into rhythm or vibrations that are decoded in time. These signals - pure, abstract, vibrations - transmitted by the DNA are decoded into light, texture, smell, sound, etc. The brain turns the signals into real events in time and space. If genes can regulate time, then it could also regulate space. But time is riding on a molecule. The signals for time, space, motion, etc., come from the level of silent intelligence. The miracle of DNA is that it can turn so many totally abstract messages into life itself

British physicist David Bohm supposed that there is an invisible field that holds all of reality together, a field that possesses the property of knowing what is happening everywhere at once. This is based on the Bell’s theorem (after the author, the Irish physicist John Bell), which holds that the reality of the universe must be non-local, that is, all objects and events in the cosmos are inter-connected with one another and respond to one another’s change of state.

The visible universe itself is now believed to be but a minuscule of the whole manifestation, the residue of a much larger reality that collapsed somewhere before time began, reducing the original (possibly 12) dimensions to four (the space-time dimension of Einstein). Also, it appears that at the moment of creation, the universe was filled with a billion times more energy that are now observed with radio-telescopes; the remainder was reabsorbed into the same hidden field where the other dimensions went.

The DNA code somehow exists both in the physical and abstract levels. It is a pattern that the unfolding entity will follow into the future, complete with the physical, emotional and mental make-up. Somehow, the pattern follows a grand design not only for the unfolding entity, but also for all life on earth, a consciousness translated by scientists in terms of physical or natural laws. Somehow, the grand design is true for the solar system, the galaxies, and the universe.

Free Will and Determinism

What about free will?  The organic theory viewpoint maintains that the ability to make a decision – to act and have emotional responses, is a product of the basic framework of the brain, inherited from parents as well resulting from the interaction with the environment. But then the DNA may have been the product of something primordial, a consciousness that decided to manifest in the fertilized egg, with its unique DNA code. The physical component of the DNA may have come as a result of the union of the parents; but its organizing field (the source) may have guided the union in the first place.

Is it possible that the human potential from conception until birth is greater than what is actualized in living in the world? According to Wilson Colin, the powers of the mind are not waiting to be evolved; they are already evolved and are simply waiting for humans to achieve a level at which they can be used. (Wilson Collins, Mysteries, p.495)

Nature is like a radio band. When one pays attention to an isolated object – a rock, a star, a galaxy – one selects one channel on the band, with the rest obviously being excluded for that level of consciousness. It may be that other levels of consciousness receives more bands, or more than one band at a time. Right now, physicists estimate that the senses choose less than one-billionth of the energy waves and particles that surround the person. Humans live in an “energy soup” incredibly larger than the observable world.

Like the caterpillar is to a butterfly, the human being goes through a transformation process. However, unlike the butterfly, the transformation is obviously not in the physical realm, but in levels of consciousness, i.e., levels of mind and heart. This is reflected in differences among humans in terms of mental absorptive capacities and degrees of capacities for loving. Evolution of mind rests in consciously connecting to the primal energy field, i.e., in being at one with the source in a non-physical world.
